Gorham Antique Sterling Silver Olive Dish with Serving Fork, Providence, RI, 1891

This rare dish is shaped like a giant, hollow olive with a textured, dimpled surface. The handle is made of large leaves and a branch attached to the body of the piece. This dish is accompanied by a rare olive fork, a design originally sold with it.

It is extremely uncommon to find these two pieces still together, although it is impossible to tell if they started life together. The fork is in the form of an olive branch with applied leaves and an olive.

The dish and fork are stamped with Gorham's trademark and 'STERLING.' The dish bears the date mark for 1891 and the 515 model number, and the fork the '597' model number. The unusual dish measures 5.75 inches long, and the fork measures 5.75 inches long. They are in very good/ excellent condition with even wear to the original gilding to the interior.
