Wood and Hughes Antique Sterling Silver Aesthetic Serving Spoon, NYC, c. 1870's

1 item left

This rare serving spoon or scoop is a large and dramatic example of aesthetic flatware. The handle is in the form of a vine which terminates at the top with a point and swirling tendrils. A wonderful leaf is applied to the tendrils. The bowl is easily large enough to act as a scoop - either for berries or (oyster stew) crackers.

The bowl is deep and has a stunning matte finish and gilt surface. The end of the bowl is engraved with a gothic 'R' initial.

This magnificent server is marked 'W&H/ STERLING'. It measures just shy of 11 inches long, weighs 3.15 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.
