William Gale Jr (attr) Antique Sterling Silver Vase, NYC, NY, c. late 1860s
Stunning foliate engraving adorns this beautiful vase. Executed against a matte-finish body, the engraving, reminiscent of Egyptian decorative design, sparkles on both sides. One side is engraved 'AM' in an oval cartouche. Loop handles of exotic foliage - possibly papyrus - are applied underneath the flared lotus-bud neck, which is also beautifully engraved.
This lovely vase is marked underneath '925 STERLING/ 214.'. It measures just shy of 9.25 inches high, weighs 11.20 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.
