This striking shoehorn features a handle of three realistically cast wheat heads, symbolizing the bounty of the American farm. A lovely 'MBD' monogram is engraved on the blade of this shoehorn.
Frank M. Whiting was the son of Whiting founder William D. Whiting. In the 1870's he left his father's employment and returned to Attleboro, started his own silver firm, and in 1881 was joined by his father. Some of the firm's earlier pieces like this are quite attractive.
This beautiful item is marked with Frank M. Whiting's trademark and 'STERLING/ 93'. It measures 7.25 inches long, weighs 1.95 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.
