Whiting 'Arabesque' Pattern Antique Sterling Silver Salad Set , NYC, c. 1875

The 'Arabesque' pattern is beautiful and ornate. The handle is designed with wonderful details including a griffin holding a cartouche which is engraved with a 'W' initial.

The bowls are quite stunning. They have a soft, matte finish covered in gold gilt on both sides. They shapes are wonderful as is the stunning hand-engraved decoration.

This beautiful serving set is marked with Whiting's trademark, 'Pat. 1875/ Sterling'. They measure 12.25 inches long, weigh a combined 7.65 troy ounces and are in excellent crisp condition with very slight light wear to the gilding.
