Whiting Antique Sterling Silver Presentation Flask, NYC, NY, 1886

The undulating, tapered body of this rare flask is very unusual. It is decorated with striking acid-etched engravings including the inscription: 'Presented to O.S. Bird By P.F.C. 1886'.

The scene of the gentleman on horseback jumping over a fence is stunning. Not only are the details exquisite, but the task of even executing the acid-etching on an undulating, round body is also astonishing, and only a highly skilled artist could have created this lovely object.

This wonderful flask is marked with Whiting's trademark and 'WHITING M'F'G. Co/ New-York/ Sterling 1843.' It measures 9.5 inches long and weighs 7.70 troy ounces. It holds between 8 and 10 fluid ounces and is in wonderful antique condition.
