Whiting Antique Sterling Silver Indo-Persian Style Child's Cup, NYC, NY, c. 1880s

Highly ornamented in exotic designs reminiscent of fine paisley, this is a lovely child's cup. It has an applied, stepped rim and base along with a beautifully decorated handle. A blank leaf on the front is engraved 'Romaine Hoit' who, one finds out with a quick Google search, was born c. 1886. The interior is also very ornate due to the hand chased design and retains its original light gilding.

This wonderful cup is marked underneath with Whiting's trademark and 'STERLING/ 267/ M1'. It measures 4.25 inches across the handle by 3.25 inches high, weighs 6.70 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition with slight staining to the interior.
