Whiting Antique Sterling Silver Acid-etched Dresser Jar, NYC, c. 1880s

This lovely container by Whiting has a delightful hammered surface. It creates a stunning background for the acid-etched aesthetic floral design - comprised of large flowers in bloom, branches, and leaves. The removable cover has an applied band around its edge. 

This beautiful covered jar is marked with Whiting's trademark and 'STERLING/ 1297H' and by the New York retailer 'THEODORE B. STARR.' It measures 3.25 inches in diameter by 3.25 inches high, weighs 8.05 troy ounces, has never been monogrammed and is in excellent antique condition with a little unevenness underneath where a ding has been removed.
