Two Pair of Modern English Sterling Silver Figural Salt and Pepper Shakers, Iain David Young, London, 1991
This unusual set of salt and pepper shakers are in the form of heads. They are very well made and quite amusing to look at. The imaginative design and treatment to the surface are reminiscent of carved rocks that have come to life. The beautiful curves and flat surfaces have small bead eyes and simple cuts to create the mouths. The flat tops are pierced once for pepper and four times for salt.
These small whimsical salt and pepper shakers are fully hallmarked and are also engraved underneath 'Iain Young'. The peppers are 2 inches tall and the salts are 1.25 inches high. They weigh a total of 4.85 troy ounces and are in excellent condition with their original rubber corks underneath and presentation boxes.
