Patented in 1892, 'Richelieu' is a lovely pattern designed by Paulding Farnham, Tiffany's chief designer of that period.Serving, large gumbo, dessert and egg spoon Loosely based on rococo antecedents, it features restrained floral decoration in scrolling rocaille designs. An original 'MCD' monogram is engraved in the cartouche. The bowls of the coffee spoons, ice cream forks and egg spoons retain their original gilding. All 36 sterling-handled knives have their original silver plated blades stamped 'TIFFANY & CO NEW YORK'.
Each piece is stamped 'TIFFANY & CO./ STERLING/ PAT. 1892/ T'. The total weight of the service excluding the knives is 207.55 troy ounces. Salad, dinner fork, dinner knife and tea spoon The service is in excellent antique condition. One of the fish knives has a couple small flakes to the silver plate on the blade and one teaspoon is matched.
