Tiffany & Co 'Richelieu' Pattern Antique Sterling Silver Sugar Sifter, NYC, c. 1890's

Notify me when similar is available:

Richelieu is a lovely pattern which incorporates dainty floral and foliate decoration amongst shell borders at the top of the handle. The cartouche is engraved with an 'HES' monogram.  Richelieu was designed by Paulding Farnham, Tiffany's lead silver designer.

The oval, fluted bowl is beautifully pierced. Sugar sifters were quite commonly used for sprinkling sugar over cakes or fruit when serving dessert.

This beautiful sifter is marked 'TIFFANY & CO/ STERLING/ PAT 1892/ T'. It measures just shy of 5.75 inches long, weighs 1.30 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.

Provenance: From the collection of Dale E. Bennett
