Tiffany & Co 'Lap Over Edge' Pattern 12 Antique Sterling Silver Fish Knives, New York City, c. 1910
"Lap Over Edge is generally regarded as the most innovative of Tiffany's flatware patterns" (Tiffany Silver Flatware by William P. Hood, Jr., p. 219).
This set of hollow handle fish knives with sterling handles and blades is extremely rare and quite stunning. The fronts and backs of the handles are masterfully decorated using an acid etching technique.
The backs of the handles are designed with exotic flora and engraved with a lovely 'EHH' monogram executed in a japonesque style. The fronts are all unique with wonderful scenes of frogs, cranes, turtles, fish, etc.
The blades of these magnificent antique fish knives are stamped 'TIFFANY & CO/ MAKERS/ STERLING/ m'. They measure 7.75 inches long and are in excellent antique condition.
