Tiffany & Co Antique Sterling Silver Lyre Design Bread Fork, NYC, c. 1880

This is an exceptionally rare and beautiful serving fork with bold design made from multiple parts. The tapering handle is undecorated and joined by a a decorative ring to the lower section. The top is a beautifully cast lyre supported by two garlands emanating from florets. Very classical in its inspiration, the handle also features lion heads at the top of the lyre handles flanking a sunburst.

The three-tined serving end is also quite striking with lovely classical pierce-work and chased foliate design.

This rare antique serving fork is marked on the back 'TIFFANY & CO/ STERLING/ M/ 927'. It measures 9 inches long, weighs 4.10 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.
