Tiffany & Co Antique Sterling Silver 'Japanese' Pattern Fish Serving Fork, NYC, 1871-75
This is a large and stunning serving fork. The 'Japanese' pattern was first patented in 1871 and showed American's growing interest in Japan and the exotic.
An exotic scene of a bird perched amongst foliage is featured at the top of the handle. The reverse of the handle has a foliate scene and has never been monogrammed. The area above the tines has a lovely engraved exotic water plant with birds in the distance.
This stunning server is marked 'TIFFANY & Co/ STERLING/ PAT 1871/ M'. It measures 10.25 inches long, weighs 4.0 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.
