Tiffany 'Century' Pattern Art Deco Sterling Silver Tray, New York City, 1937-47
$0.00
Upon the 100th anniversary of Tiffany & Co, a line of flatware and holloware was introduced to commemorate the occasion. Appropriately named 'Century', the line consisted of flat surfaces with strong art deco design elements.
American art deco silver is quite rare and this 14 inch tray is a great representation of that simple, yet detailed, striking design. The flat interior has raised, curved sides leading up to a flat border with the ends being wider than the sides.
Three incised lines decorate the wide ends of the tray and connect with applied central raised and stepped ornamentation. One side is engraved 'JEV' in a bold deco style.
This rare tray is marked on the underside 'TIFFANY & Co/ MAKERS/ STERLING SILVER/ 925-1000/ m/ 22401 5266' and is also stamped 14.25 IN. The width is 10 inches. It weighs 37.85 troy ounces and is in very good antique condition with light scratches from use.
