This ice bowl is an exceptionally rare form in a rare Pine Cone design by Tiffany & Co. It consists of a large bowl and a removable, fitted liner which is wonderfully hand-pierced in a design of pine cones and needles.
The bowl itself resembles a small punch bowl with a bulbous body and eight vertical flutes. An everted, scalloped rim is ornamented with a edge of realistically cast pine cones amongst a bed of flowing pine needles.
The outstretched base on four feet is very dramatic with larger representations of pine cones amongst their beds of needles.
Whether used as an ice bowl, punch bowl, centerpiece, etc., the design and quality attests to the greatness that made Tiffany & Co. such an exceptional company.
This rare sterling silver ice bowl is marked underneath the main body and base of the liner 'TIFFANY & Co/ MAKERS/3398/ STERLING SILVER/ 925-1000/ T'. The 'T' mark indicates the item was made 1891-1902 when Charles L. Tiffany was president of the company. It measures 5.5 inches high by 10.75 inches wide, weighs 69.50 troy ounces, has never been monogrammed and is in excellent condition.
