Stavre Gregor Panis Arts & Crafts Sterling Silver Nautical Bracelet, Falmouth, MA, c. 1950s

This rare bracelet with a hook clasp is a great design with multi-motif nautical inspiration. Each of the rectangular panels depicts nautical characteristics of which Gregor and Gladys Panis would have been very familiar living in Falmouth. These are also their signature designs for which they are famous. The 6-panels, bordered by waves, consist of a seagull above a crab, an open scallop, birds and a boat, a horseshoe crab, a starfish and a lighthouse.

Provenance:

This piece comes from the collection of a marine biologist and his wife who summered on the Cape while he worked at The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. Most of the collection was purchased in the 1950s. They have descended in the family.

This wonderful bracelet is stamped 'SGP' within a triangle and 'STERLING.' The bracelet measures 7 inches long, 1.3 inches wide, weighs 32 grams and is in very good condition.
