Shreve & Co Sterling Silver Art Deco Bowl, San Francisco, CA, c. 1925-30

This bowl is a stunning example of art deco design. Free of ornamentation, the body relies on its dramatic, flaring cone shape and highly reflective surface for its beauty. Five stepped, shaped feet splay outwards reflecting the shape of the bowl and reflecting their image onto the body.

Shreve & Co was one of the most important California silversmithing firms, and still San Francisco's preeminent jeweler.

This lovely bowl is marked 'SHREVE & CO/ SAN FRANCISCO/ STERLING/ 11146'. It measures 9 inches round at the top by 3.75 inches high, weighs 21.75 troy ounces, has never been engraved and is in excellent condition.
