Shiebler 'Flora' Pattern Narcissus Antique Sterling Silver Large Berry Spoon, NYC, c. 1890

Notify me when similar is available:

The company of George Shiebler produced fantastic designs, including the rare and distinctive flatware pattern Flora, with different flowers on each piece. This large serving spoon is very impressive, with large, exotic representations of narcissus on the front of the handle against a textured background. The large bowl has a matte finish and is covered on both sides with its original gilding.

Provenance:
Private Collection.

This rare spoon is marked with Shiebler's winged 'S" trademark and "STERLING/ PAT'D 89" and by the Boston retailer 'SHREVE, CRUMP & LOW.' It measures just shy of 10 inches long, weighs 5.50 troy ounces, has never been monogrammed, and is in excellent antique condition with light scratches to the back of the bowl.
