Shiebler Antique Sterling Silver Serving Fork, NYC, c. 1880s

Unusual yet striking designs are what make George Shiebler most famous. This particular serving fork has three long plain tines which both contrast with and complement wonderfully the modern design of the handle. I've only seen this design a couple of times on a couple of other serving pieces. The futuristic handle, which only decorates the front, is an expanding coil around a central staff. Pieces like this show how original and how far before their time some of George Shiebler’s were.

This wonderful server is marked with Shiebler's trademark and 'STERLING.' It measures 7 inches long, weighs 2.30 troy ounces, has never been engraved and is in excellent antique condition.
