Shiebler Antique Sterling and Other Metals Ice Cream Slice, NYC, NY, c. 1880

This lovely ice cream slice can be used for serving a myriad of food. It has a flat, shaped blade and curved handle decorated with two sections of horizontal steps that wrap around the sides. The flattened top is beautifully adorned with applied Japanese-inspired ornament, including a brass beetle and crane amongst gilt silver and exotic other-metals flora.

This lovely, antique server is marked with Shiebler's 'S' within wings hallmark and 'STERLING' along with the Philadelphia retailer 'J.E. CALDWELL.' It measures 10.75 inches long and weighs 4.35 troy ounces. The front of the handle is in crisp condition, however there has been a monogram removed from the back of the handle and the blade.
