Silver made by Lona Schaeffer is extremely rare. She trained and worked in the workshop of her famous father Peer Smed who created fascinating, unique, naturalistic designs of stunning quality. This serving set is hand wrought and made of heavy gauge silver. Plain, hammered surfaces shimmer and showcase the bold, applied calla lilies. These flowers were one of the favorite motifs used in the shop by both Lona and her father on holloware and jewelry. Wonderful proportions, graceful lines, and organic ornamentation make this set a work of art.
This set is stamped on the back 'STERLING/ HAND WROUGHT' and 'LPS' for Lona P. Schaeffer. They measure 9 inches long, have never been monogrammed, weigh a combined 8.15 troy ounces and are in excellent antique condition.
