Examples of good candle sticks are very difficult to find. Examples of 'Castle' pattern candle sticks in this style and condition are exceptionally rare - we have never seen any of this quality. The conical-shaped, weighted round bases are wonderfully repoussed with lovely exotic landscape scenes with houses, trees, birds, a sailboat etc. The bulbous columns also exhibit wonderful landscape scenery. The socles and original, removable bobeches are covered with foliate repousse design.

These sticks, along with other pieces, were purchased privately from an individual who purchased them from a Memphis, TN, dealer in the late 1960's. They came from an 'old Tennessee estate'. These are the finest examples of c. 1900 'Castle' pattern Kirk we have ever seen and are all in outstanding condition.

These rare candle sticks are marked underneath the bobeches and bases 'S KIRK & Son Co/ 925/1000/ 789'. They measures 12.5 inches high and are in excellent condition.
