A stunning and rare example of repousse silver from Baltimore, this lovely centerpiece bowl was made by the firm of S. Kirk & Son Co around 1900. The quality and detail of the repousse and casting is the finest we have seen. The flaring, circular base with foliate repousse scenes is supported on four feet. The flaring, undulating rim is amazing. There are three sections of cast pierced flowers and cast foliage on lattice extends along the outer rim. The three scenic panels feature various landscapes with castles and bridges set in exotic surroundings.

This piece, along with others, was purchased privately from an individual who purchased it from an Memphis, TN, dealer in the late 1960's. They came from an 'old Tennessee estate'. These are the finest examples of c. 1900 'Castle' pattern Kirk we have ever seen and are all in outstanding condition.

This rare centerpiece is marked underneath 'S KIRK & Son Co/ 925/1000/ 129'. It measures 13.75 inches round by 4.75 inches high, weighs an impressive 67.5 troy ounces and is in excellent condition.
