S. Kirk & Son 11oz Silver Antique Repoussé Bowl, Baltimore, 1869-91

This is a lovely example of repoussé silver from Baltimore. It was made by the famous firm of Samuel Kirk & Son, who produced these beautiful bowls in various sizes. This is a smaller version of this popular design. The rim has a hand chased applied band used to decorate and strengthen its edge. The body is finely repousséd with an array of flowers and foliage against a stippled background.

The pedestal base mimics the body in style and decoration and has a crimped edge.

This lovely bowl is marked underneath 'S. Kirk & Son/ 11OZ'. It measures just over 6.5 inches in diameter by 5.5 inches high, weighs 16.85 troy ounces and is in very good antique condition with light wear to the highlights.
