This large coaster is decorated with an impressive border of flowers and leaves in a pierced design. It is an impressive art nouveau design with a wonderful patina. The interior of the raised, curved side is engraved with a lovely 'LN' monogram. The interior is a turned wood bottom with a felted underside to protect surfaces from scratches.

Adolph Ludwig and A. Alec Redlich started the company Ludwig Redlich in 1890. Ludwig previously worked as a designer for the famous firm of Shiebler who were noted for their unique designs and stunning silver. Five years later, Ludwig sold his interest in the company which then became Redlich & Co. (1)

This coaster is marked underneath with Redlich's trademark along with 'STERLING/ 4047 8 1/5 IN.' It measures 8.5 inches in diameter by 1.75 inches high and is in excellent antique condition with light wear to the wood and felt. The interior width of the wood is 5 inches.
