Pr. of Gorham Modern Sterling Silver Compotes, Providence, RI, c. 1930s

These compotes are a striking design and hand-raised. The graceful shapes of the bowls represent flower buds, and the attached balls represent seeds. A soft hammered surface and a splayed, undulating rim create an elegant and modern look. The stems reinforce the floral design with lovely, bold leaves and clusters of seeds rising from the domed, hammered bases.

These wonderful compotes are marked with Gorham's trademark and 'GORHAM/ STERLING/E560/ HAND WROUGHT' and by the great Philadelphia, PA retailer 'J.E. CALDWELL & CO.' They measure 5.5 inches in diameter by 6 inches tall, have a combined weight of 26.95 troy ounces and are in excellent condition.
