This small box is a stunning and rare example of mid 18th century French gold. Every side is beautifully executed with a sunburst design.

Applied to all six sides of this rectangular box are lovely scenes of flowers.

The appliques are executed in various hues of rose, white and yellow gold.

The hinge which runs the length of the box opens to reveal an unadorned and elegant interior.

This exquisite box is fully marked with the charge, date and maker's mark on the lid and base, the charge and maker's mark on the side and discharge mark on the bezel. It measures just shy of 2.25 inches long by 0.75 inches wide by just under 1 inch high and weighs approximately 1.55 troy ounces of 20.25 carat (.84) gold. It is in excellent antique condition.
