Pair of Gorham Antique Sterling Silver & Other Metals Shakers, Providence, RI, 1880

These small shakers are quite lovely. The pierced tops are removable and fit into plain collars. The ornate canister bodies have a trellis design with florets encompassing the sides. Various copper, applied decorations are used on all sides but one and consist of various flora and a couple of japonesque figures.

These fun shakers are marked with Gorham's trademark and 'STERLING AND OTHER METALS/ 1760/ 6' and the 'M' date mark for 1880. They measure just over 2.75 inches tall, weigh a total 2.85 troy ounces and are in excellent antique condition.
