Burwash & Sibley, Pair of English Sterling Agricultural Plowing Trophies, London, 1807/08

These large goblets have beautifully lobed cups on pedestal bases. The areas above the lobing are identically engraved with scenes of two horses pulling a plow and being guided by a farmer. The engravings read:

These magnificent goblets are fully hallmarked. They measure 4 inches in diameter by 6 inches tall, weigh a combined 21.65 troy ounces, and are in excellent antique condition with light, even wear to the interior gilding.

The partnership of William Burwash and Richard Sibley produced very fine silver. To quote Arthur Grimwade, "His [Sibley's] work whether alone or in partnership is of a high standard of design and execution in a restrained key of Regency taste." (1) Couldn't have said it better!
