Aeolian is a beautiful scrolling foliate pattern from c. 1880. This blade has a lightly gilded finish and is beautifully pierced with complimentary aesthetic scrolling design and a flower on the front. This small server can be used for a myriad of foods but was most likely originally intended for cucumbers or tomatoes.
Knowles is the 'other' silver firm from Providence, RI. Working in Gorham's shadow, they never have received the recognition they deserve for their fine silver work.
This lovely server is marked with Knowles trademark and 'STERLING/ 12'. It measures 7.25 inches long , weighs 1.50 troy ounces, has never been monogrammed and is in very good antique condition.
