This rare hooded serving scoop is a stunning serving piece. The bold pattern incorporates a figural ram's head at the top of the handle above an oval disc engraved with the initial 'E'. Classical details decorate the front and back.

The elongated bowl with raised sides has a light gold wash to the front surface. The blade hood is a stunning example of pierce work and classical ornament. It incorporates foliate devices amongst scrollwork and is also gilded.

This rare server is marked on the back '925/ Patent' and by the renowned Philadelphia retailer JE CALDWELL & Co'. It measures 9.75 inches long, weighs 3.75 troy ounces and is in very good condition with light wear to the gilding.
