This lovely example of early American silver is by Hugh Wishart from New York. The large, oval-shaped body has slightly lobed panels. Very fine hand-engraving decorates the top rim and the bottom edge. The removable lid also has some fine engraving around a domed center surmounted by a complementary urn-shaped finial. This lovely coin silver sugar bowl is stamped underneath 'WISHART'. It measures 9 inches long across the handles by 4 inches deep by 6.25 inches high. It weighs 13.55 troy ounces and is in very good antique condition with an unnoticeable monogram removal on one side.
