Grete Prytz Korsmo Enamel and Sterling Bowl

Notify me when similar is available:

This stunning sterling bowl is totally enameled on both the interior and exterior except for the sterling rim giving this piece a simple, yet striking presence. Underneath it is stamped 'STERLING' along with the firm's mark, 'J. Tostrup' and 'Norway". This piece is also hand signed underneath by the artist, Grete Prytz Korsmo.

As referenced in Modern Silver Throughout the World 1880-1967 by Graham Hughes, Grete Prytz Korsmo won the Lunning prize in 1953 and 'a Grand Prix at the 1954 Milan Triennale for enamel...' She exhibited extensively at World Fairs and is recognized as one of the 20th century's leading enamel artists. The subtle hues of purple brown and elegant proportions of this bowl are difficult to convey in a digital photo.

This beautiful piece measures just over 3 inches high, is 9 inches wide and is in excellent condition.
