Gorham Blackberry Antique Sterling Silver Pie Server, Providence - c. 1880

This lovely pie server is in a rare aesthetic design.  An applied vine with blackberries travels up the handle against a stippled background.  A circular wafer joins the handle to the shaped blade engraved with the same berry design.  The heart-shaped section of the blade was gilded initially and one can see very slight traces.  Engraved on the back is a lovely 'EW' monogram.

This unusual pie server is marked on the back with Gorham's trademark and 'STERLING.'  It measures 9.25 inches long, weighs 2.95 troy ounces and is in good condition with light wear to the blade.
