Gorham Antique Sterling Silver Salad Set with Applied Crabs, Providence, RI, c. 1880

This is a lovely and unusual salad set by the Gorham Manufacturing Company. The entire surfaces on their fronts and backs are hammered giving them a wonderful sparkle.

Applied sea creatures ornament the handles. The spoon has a large crab at the top above a lobster. The fork has two crabs and a fish.

These wonderful servers are marked with Gorham's trademark and 'STERLING'. The fork and spoon measure 9.5 and 9.75 inches long respectively. They are in very good condition with even wear to the original gilt areas of the bowl and fork tines.
