This antique paten has a central circular gilt interior and raised border. The border is hand-engraved with a cross within a textured circle encircled with a band containing twelve small circles.

The Episcopal Divinity School was formerly the Episcopal Theological School founded in 1867 in Cambridge; it changed its name in 1974 when it combined with the Philadelphia Divinity School which was founded in 1857. In 2018, the school merged with the Union Theological Seminary in New York City and the campus was acquired by Leslie University. For more history of the school, see here.
This paten is marked with Gorham's trademark along with 'STERLING/ 2101' and the 'key' date symbol for 1906. It measures 6 inches in diameter, weighs 4.50 troy ounces and has never been engraved with monograms or a dedication. It is in good condition, although there are two very slight ruffles on the edge and light scratches and wear from use.
