Gorham Antique Sterling Silver Pair of Figural Candy Dishes, Providence, RI, 1876

Notify me when similar is available:

It is so nice to find a beautiful pair of sweetmeat, or candy, dishes. These are formed as large shells with scalloped edges.

The handles swoop upwards from the back in a wave formation. Semi-kneeling atop the handles are cast putti figures with wings.

The bases are applied twisting vines with leaves.

These stunning dishes are marked with Gorham's trademark and 'STERLING/ 10/ I' and by the San Francisco retailer 'GEO. C. SHREVE & CO'. They measure 6.5 inches long by 4 inches high, weigh a combined 17.70 troy ounces and are in excellent antique condition.
