This is a rare find!! Used as an ornamental handle on cheese balls, it has a corkscrew-like spike to screw into the food. On top is a very nicely cast resting cow. It is marked with the Gorham trademark, sterling and the 'M' date mark of 1880. This piece measures 2 inches high by 1.75 inches wide. (The picture is larger than life.) It is in very good condition except the corkscrew end has been shortened.
For an identical example, see the November 1986 Silver Magazine: "An Elegant Cheese and Wine Setting."
