Gorham Antique Sterling Silver Butterfly Mustard Pot, Providence, RI, c. 1869

This lovely mustard pot features a reeded ring handle with a perched cast and applied butterfly, which acts as a thumbpiece. The barrel-form body is a wonderful design and is topped with a hinged, domed cover with finial and cutout for a mustard spoon.

This rare mustard pot is marked with Gorham's trademark and "STERLING/ 880" and the 'B' date mark for 1869. It measures 3.5 inches tall, weighs 3.85 troy ounces, and is in very good antique condition with some scale to the body.
