Various styles and design elements are utilized to create this wonderful centerpiece bowl. The basket-shaped bowl has two applied loop handles made from shaped copper. Copper is also used for the four fan-inspired feet which are attached to a brass ring. The neck of the bowl has a beautiful band of scrolling classical arabesques.

The bowl has a stunning hammered surface of irregular blows resembling a honeycomb pattern which acts as a lovely background to the decoration and an opulent interior with its gold gilding.

Emanating from each of the handles are hand chased vines with cast and applied leaves. The various leaves are executed in brass and copper. One side also has a brass butterfly and the other side has a copper bee and copper butterfly. In total, there are 20 applied leaves and three insects.

Engraved underneath is a beautifully executed 'MEG' monogram.
