Gorham Antique Sterling and Ivory Fish Servers, Providence, RI, c. 1890

Notify me when similar is available:

These amazing servers are very rare and in remarkable condition. The handles are carved ivory and have an engraved 'S' monogram that is hard to see as it blends in with the ivory. The sterling is an extraordinary display of a parcel-gilt scrolling foliate design.

A similar pair of servers were photographed in an article in the Magazine Antiques. The editors thought them so lovely the fork was featured on that issue's cover (even though that one had it's gilding worn off). (1)

This spectacular set is marked with Gorham's trademark and 'STERLING/ 607.' The slice and fork measures 11.75 and just over 10 inches respectively. They are in excellent antique condition.
