Gorham Antique Copper Demitasse Pot, Providence, RI, c. 1880's
This sweet demitasse pot is a lovely design with a rich copper color to its surface. It has a long, curved spout attached with a shield design and two rivets. The curved handle has complimentary shield devices where it joins the pot and is covered in rattan to keep the heat at bay. The hinged, domed cover is lobed as is the rim and base of the body.
This lovely pot is marked underneath 'Gorham CO' along with their trademark, '12/ Y56', and a poorly struck date mark (likely 'Q' or 'O' for 1882 or 1884). It measures 6.75 inches tall and is in very good antique condition with a nice old used original red surface and one small break to the original rattan.
