Gorham Antique Copper and Silver Vase, Providence, RI, 1882

This wonderful item has a beautiful, original red patina, a hammered surface, and a ruffled edge. Decorating the front is a holly branch with leaves and berries, and off to the side hangs a bunch of strawberries. The appliques are sterling, and the fruit and berries are copper, which is a lovely visual effect and shows off beautifully against the rich color of the body. This wonderful item was originally part of a smoking set intended as a cigar holder but now makes a stunning vase.

This piece is marked underneath with Gorham's copper mark and 'GORHAM CO/ Y50' and the 'O' date marks for 1882. It measures 3.75 inches in diameter by 3.25 inches high and is in excellent antique condition.
