George West Irish Silver Sugar Basket, Dublin, c. 1799

Notify me when similar is available:

This is a lovely boat-shaped sugar basket with wonderful engraving around the upper edge of the body. Emanating from circular cartouches, engraved garlands drape around the body. One of these cartouches is monogrammed 'GJCP'. The base of the pedestal foot and the rim of the basket are decorated with a rolled and applied reeded band which matches the reeded swing-handle.

This beautiful Irish silver basket is fully hallmarked underneath. It measures 5 inches high (8 inches to the top of the handle) by 7 inches long by 4.25 inches deep. It weighs 7.15 troy ounces and is in very good antique condition with light wear to the engraving.
