George Fuller White George II Sterling Silver 2-handled Cup, London, 1750/51

This stunning mid-18th century cup is a wonderful example of early London silver. The 2-handled cup was a popular form during this period and this lovely example has nicely cast and applied scroll handles with leaf thumb-pieces. An applied band around the midsection is decorative and compliments the top applied band around the rim. The interior shimmers from it being hand-raised.

The wide, stepped pedestal base is also lovely and engraved underneath with the initials 'H' over 'I * M'. An engraved armorial on the upper section of one side is nicely articulated with an arm grasping an arrow above a coat of arms.

The arms are for Harrison of Lincoln's Inn Fields, London recorded by William Harrison, Esq. and are closely related to Harrison of Acliff in Lancashire.

This antique sterling silver cup displays the elegance and simplicity of the period and is fully marked underneath. It measures 6.5 inches high by 9.75 inches across the handles, weighs 29.40 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.
