Farrington and Hunnewell (attr) Coin Silver Pie Server, Boston, MA, 1851-56

This early coin silver pie server has a lifted handle in the Fiddle Thread design. The reverse is engraved with a 'B' initial. The shaped blade incorporates pierced work into the engraved scrolls and foliate designs. Although not marked by Farrington and Hunnewell, this blade can be positively identified with their shop.

This lovely pie server is marked 'MCKAY, SPEAR & BROWN/ PURE-COIN.' McKay, Spear and Brown are listed as retailers in Boston from 1851-56. The server measures 9.25 inches long, weighs 1.90 troy ounces and is in good antique condition.
