English Art Deco Sterling Silver Coffee and Tea Service, Emile Viners, Sheffield, 1938/39
This stunning coffee service exhibits great art-deco elements. The octagonal bodies have tapering panels with mirror-like surfaces. Coffee pot of English Art Deco Sterling Silver Coffee and Tea Service, Emile Viners, Sheffield, 1938/39
Decorating these surfaces are chased lines traveling around the bodies from which hang inverted skyscraper designs at the edges of each panel.
Exceptional carved ivories create the similarly shaped octagonal finials and dramatic handles which conform to the sterling handles on the sugar and creamer. This streamlined design is quite striking and elegant.
This rare service is fully hallmarked. The coffee pot measures 6.25 inches high by 9 inches across the handle to spout. The total weight of the four pieces is 55.10 troy ounces and it is in excellent antique condition.
