English Antique Sterling Silver Snuff Box by Joseph Taylor, Birmingham, 1796/97

This lovely snuff box is an early and great example with an unusual oval shape with flat surfaces.  Very fine engraving decorates the body on all sides.  The beautifully engraved cover incorporates the design to mask the hinge.

This wonderful 18th-century small box is fully hallmarked on the inside cover and body.  It measures 2.75 inches long by 1.5 inches wide by just under .75 inches high and is in very good antique condition with one small ding underneath and a small area of restoration to the hinge, neither of which are very noticeable.
