This rare piece of English silver is a stunning art nouveau mustard pot. The domed, hinged cover has three applied interlocking, tree-form straps that join to create the finial. This design is used to build the openwork body, revealing beautiful blue panels from the cobalt liner. The handle is also very organic in its unusual squiggly form. The original mustard spoon is created in the same complimentary fashion with a textured surface.
This wonderful condiment jar is fully hallmarked on the body and the spoon. The cover is stamped with the year and lion passant marks. It measures 4 inches across the body and handle by 3.5 inches high and weighs 5.65 troy ounces, including the spoon. The removable cobalt liner is most likely a replacement with a couple of very minor chips to its edge, and the silver is in excellent condition.
